About My Flowments
I've spent nearly 15 years watching children create. Messy kitchens, paint everywhere, something being made from nothing. That's always been my world — the belief that children learn best when they're doing something that means something to them.
When my daughter needed major spinal surgery, our world changed. Home education wasn't a philosophical choice at first. It was a response. But somewhere in the months that followed — navigating her recovery, her anxiety, the gaps, the breakthroughs, the days that were hard and the days that were quietly extraordinary — I started to understand something I hadn't before.
Education is happening all the time. In the kitchen, at the river, in the car, in the silence after a difficult conversation. It doesn't look like school. It doesn't need to.
What I struggled with was capturing it. Every system I tried felt like more admin on top of an already full life. Spreadsheets felt cold. Apps felt generic. Nothing understood that what I was trying to record wasn't just what we did — it was who she was becoming.
So I started building something that did.
The journal exists because memory is unreliable and moments deserve better than a camera roll. A few lines, a photo, a subject tag — enough to bring it back completely when you read it a year later.
Flowments exist because some moments are different. Not bigger necessarily, just more. The kind that stop you. The kind you know matter even if you can't explain why yet. I wanted a word for those. Flow and moments. That's all it is.
Growth Markers exist because I kept noticing things about my children that no curriculum would ever measure. The way my daughter approached a problem she'd never seen before. The patience my son showed when something wasn't working. These things matter. They deserved to be seen.
The Character & Qualities section exists because growth isn't always visible. My daughter's target, at one point, was simply to speak to a shopkeeper. On the surface, nothing. To her (and to me) everything. That moment deserved to be somewhere. Not for anyone else. Not as evidence or proof. Just somewhere to look back on and smile. That's what Character & Qualities is for. The quiet wins. The things that don't show up on any record but shape who your child is becoming. My Flowments notices them so you don't have to find the words in the moment.
Support Plans exist because sometimes you notice something that needs attention — not as a failure, but as an invitation. A focus area. Something to come back to. And when it shifts, that shift deserves to be recorded too.
The Annual Record exists because at some point you will want — or need — to show what your child has been doing. I wanted that to feel like something you were proud to share, not something you scrambled to produce the night before.
Family Links exist because grandparents, aunts, uncles, the people who love your children — they want to be part of this too. Not in the way, just present. Seeing the moments as they happen.
The AI features exist because I wanted support that felt like a thoughtful observer, not a marking scheme. Something that notices what you might have missed, suggests rather than prescribes, and never makes you feel like you're doing it wrong.
None of this was designed for a market. It was designed for a Tuesday afternoon when something happened and you wanted to remember it properly.
